This throw is made from a natural linen warp. Muted olive and sand ground colours in linen and wool have been used for the weft with groups of white stripes in wool. You can see the visible joints of the weft yarns on one side, other side is smooth.
Caterina Riccabona weaves each of her pieces by hand. It's a slow process as setting up the loom takes several days. Once the loom is set, it takes between one and three days to complete a throw measuring.
Caterina uses unbleached and undyed linen in her warps and her choice of weft yarns are limited to naturally eco-friendly yarns like linen, hemp, undyed or plant-dyed wools and undyed alpaca from the UK. Her pieces also often incorporate second-hand or recycled yarn from a UK company who process industrial surplus into new yarns.
