Adrian Mitchell works intuitively using wood from the local landscape. Making work in green, or wet, wood, he allows each hand turned piece to dry in controlled conditions so natural distortions can take place, sometimes over several months. He works intimately with each piece of wood on the lathe, often choosing material that will give interesting and unpredictable results, like wood from the fork of a tree, or a junction between trunk and branch.
